Alright all you Groovie Ghoulies.
We've got 10 days to go until Spooky Christmas is upon us.
So let's dive right in.

Every year, for ( I think ) the past 12 years, we've done a Halloween CD exchange.
12 years of Halloween and Horror themed music being passed around.
Everything from Danzig, Gwar, and the Misfits ( thanks Cowtown Kahuna ) to The Horror Pops, Screaming Jay Hawkins, and Tracy Morgan ( Thanks Nifer )

But now it's time to whittle it down to the bare minimum.
The cream of the crop.
The brass tacks.
The proof in the pudding.
The fruit at the bottom.
The cream of the crop.
....wait...I used that one already...
The frosting on the cupcake.

What are your Top 3 favorite Halloween songs?
The songs that make you want carve a pumpkin, yell "Trick or Treat" and spray down the neighbors kid with shaving cream.

For me it's a little something like this.

1. 45 Grave - "Night of the Demons"
2. The Swingin' Neckbreakers - "No Costume, No Candy"
3. "Captain Clegg - "Honky Tonk Halloween"

And as an added Hell Yea bonus, "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah" by Tracy Morgan is a goddamn classic.

So, let's hear it....whatchagot?

Halloween/Halloween 2 - Misfits
Halloween - Helloween

Not the best songs ever written but definitely about Halloween and on my playlist this time of year.

I don't think I have a favorite Halloween song. However, the headliner from Ohana 2019, The Woggles, just released a new Halloween song called The Witch. You can hear it on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/track/2fhhA6hP ... 960953413c

So, listen to it before commenting on favorites because, it's quite a fun song.

I must admit, my favorites change from year to year.

My Christmas Playlist (including, of course, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmakwanzakah, Winter Solstice [Gotta Keep Them Witches Happy!] and New Year's) currently contains 77,255 tracks. If started at the beginning and played to the end it would go for 170 Days, 4 Hours, 13 Minutes and 14 Seconds. It contains quite a few duplicates, of course, but not as many as you might think. My freakin' Christmas Playlist lasts longer than Freakin' Christmas!!!

Halloween, on the other hand, contains only 8,536 tracks. Many of those are 1 to 2 hour "Spooky Sounds" tracks.

That being said, and back to where I started... I have found a Favorite Halloween Song for this year.

Actually recorded in 2013, by The Mission Creeps, it does a great job of examining the supply chain problems that have plagued our planet since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, as well as the diminished capacity of citizens and consumers to access information and assistance from the Red-Tape Authorities on which they rely.

Zombies, too, are suffering in the current environment. They have no more access to healthcare than the rest of us. Okay... They don't really need that, but... . They also lack Representation (now that many politicians have begun to question the validity of votes cast by the deceased!!!).

Most importantly, perhaps... They Can't Find Any Brains!!!

Halloween may be the reason I am a tikiphile. One year, in college, Idressed up as the Great Pumpkin and won a gallon of Peach Wine. No, I did not drink any of it. I poured all of it down the sink and thought, "There's got to be a better way!" Then I went on a quest to find the better way to intoxication. I was somewhat late getting to the Tiki drink, but I cannot believe how good these drinks are when made with the right ingredients and care in measuring them.

I go for the vintage campy spooky stuff so my top 3 would have to be:
1) Monster Mash by Bobby Borris Pickett
2) I'm a Mummy by Bob McFadden
3) Riboflavin-Flavored, Non-Carbonated, Polyunsaturated Blood by Don Hinson

I can vouch for the awesomeness of Honeycutt's Halloween Party Playlist.
It was the musical highlight of my Halloween season last year and I'm currently listening to it right now.

In fact, I am officially assigning James "Tikihut" Honeycutt the role of Chief Seasonal Music Director in Charge of All Holiday Sounds, Noises, and Melodies.
Every holiday, no matter how mundane or obscure gets a playlist.
• Halloween
• Christmas
• Chanukah
• Easter
• Martin Luther King's Birthday
• 4th of July
• Festival of Sleep Day
• National Arkansas Day
• Kiss A Ginger Day
• National Marzipan Day
• Squirrel Appreciation Day

etc etc so on and so forth

I can't wait to see what he comes up with for National Cheesecake Day.
...Saturday, July 30th for those who don't celebrate.

By the way, I'm calling for a nationwide boycott of The Cheesecake Factory for appropriating my culture.

I don't know how we can have this conversation without a song that inadvertently makes everyone squeal our Hatu Matoa's name, and explicitly mentions Trader Vic's (though unfortunately name drops a pina colada instead of a mai tai)

Or Excitable Boy

Then there’s Alice Cooper’s This House is Haunted

Not gonna lie - I was shocked to see someone mention "Release The Bats". Good call!
