Love the album covers! I dream of getting my act together enough to do something like that someday. And nice score on the jacket!

VelveteenLounge: The WFMU record fair rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I attended a few years ago and spent two days looking at all the records and still didn't get to see everything. I need to go back next year!!

E33: That album cover by Art Webb is hilarious. I think Kid Mongo may have a new avatar!!!

Definitely let us know if you're coming next year! It's one of the most festive "holidays" of the year for us. We even have a friend who flies in from Texas to attend.

I found a carved wooden tiki mug at the thrift store Wednesday for $.50.

I also found some cool looking woven rattan sports equipment. I couldn't really tell what they were, lacrosse sticks, or jai alai sticks. Basically, a basket on the end of a stick with a scoop at the top, very primitive looking. I passed them up because I didn't really know what they were and didn't know what I'd do with them. They had they priced at $1.99 each instead of pricing them as a set which I thought was stupid because they'll probably get split up that way. If you're interested they're probably still there at the Thrift Stores of America near the end of Sullivant Ave.

We got out yesteday and found more awesomely hillarious album covers. Fortunately, there was no one else interested and a couple of chairs nearby so I photographed all the covers of albums I didn't want to store. I'm hoping to shoot the one's I did buy and a few other finds this afternoon. Here's a highlight or two:

I found this baby a few months ago.
Didn't have the money until now.
Is it from Hawaiian Village?
If so which one?
The misspelling says that it might be fake.
But, it also could have been the restaurant that did it..very poorly.
The quality of the bowl says vintage.
It looks very nice.
Anyone have any info or ideas?

I got one just like it a few years ago from Hala Kahiki near Chicago. My guess is it's a repo...but I'm not an expert on tiki mugs. Now, if that was a girlie magazine I'd know all about it! ;)

Loki, don't hold out on us now. I just scanned through your flickr set (looking at the pics from last night) and you've found a lot of great stuff recently.

I'm on a quick lunch break so i'll post a few pics...

A boomerang side table.

A chest with a hidden treasure inside...two decanters and four shot glasses all amber glass.
Image

A Tretchikoff Chinese Girl popularly known as The Green Lady...I've never stumbled on one in the wild, and the price was right...so she came home with us.

I'll get some more up later.

A few more goodies we found this past weekend...

This badass shadow box from 1961

For those of you following E33's epic video series Tails of the Merman, you may recognize these fine fellows as the Henchmen.
They were in bad shape and Stump Grinder doctored them up a little to personalize them.

Love the bad-ass shadowbox! Hopefully, you'll feature the Henchmen decanters in a future "Merman" episode.

I have some of these too! They're great. Did you every try making ice with them? I did for a party once and people went crazy. Nothing like a cold drink with a nudie girl looking back at you! ;)

I have the same framed art work that is in your shadowbox.
Badass, indeed.

You got a bowl that said Hawaiian Village on the bottom at Hala Kahiki?
That's weird!

No. Mine says "Orchids of Hawaii" but it's the same design.

I just got back from a week in Phoenix and I'm happy to say the thrift gods smiled on me!

The second mug from the right is from the Aku Aku in Vegas. There's more, but I couldn't carry it all--my sister will have to bring it down when she comes for Thanksgiving next week!

Check out this link to a photo of a rock formation in Arches National Park. I'm going to have to figure out where it is and go visit next time I go to Moab!
