Giving the liver a rest tonight, we're off to a chapter meeting tomorrow.

No drinking tonight for Chiwito. I virtually never drink at home; pretty much all my rumbibing is at rum bars or rum events. The five awesome rum bars in the bay area are all deservedly very popular, so packed nights like Fridays are often worth avoiding. However, I got a head start with a flight of fine El Dorado expression at Trader Vic's at lunch. Now I'll focus on drawing up a pair of check off lists for the new rum society at Rum&Sugar.

I don't know what that means but I'll drink to it anyway!

I have not had a decent mai tai in quite a while. That must be remedied.

From there....onward to oblivion since I have no plans tomorrow.

EDIT - just checked email and WOOT for boat.

It's not Barbary pirates. We can't bring the USS Constitution. Disadvantage-Queequeg.

There is some New English influence. Time to read up and confer with the Dutch in New Amsterdam.

If I was not on call this weekend, I would be mixing a oleo-saccharum punch.

That is not true, I'd be on my way to New Hampshire.

Think more Pirates of the Adirondacks.

Anyway.... making syrups and mixing cocktails for the Queequeg Chapter meeting tomorrow here.

Today is pub quiz. So, just a few beers to wash down the nachos while I flex that brainy muscle.

I went exploring Friday night, looking for cocktails I haven't tried yet.

Discovered the Puffer Fish in Tiki Drinks: Tropical Cocktails for the Modern Bar, by Sharp and Weston.

https://www.amazon.com/Tiki-Drinks-Tropical-Cocktails-Modern/dp/1581573022/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1519074467&sr=8-2&keywords=tiki+drinks

Quite tasty!

aged rum, dark rum, lime juice, Allspice Dram, simple syrup, and ginger beer

One of my favorite rum bars, Rum&Sugar in San Francisco, is starting their rum club next Tuesday, but some of us are getting a head start. I helped advise them on it, so I am determined to be first to finish. Off to try a few fine rums there tonight.

I had my main happy hour last night. On the first Thursday of each month, my rumbiber friends gather at the CapyBar, my rather elaborate home tiki bar (the awesome designer who built Smuggler's Cove also did my garage). Last Night we had some great Paper Planes and tried a few older hard-to-find rums like Sea Wynde, Daniel Finzi Orange (surprisingly very good; I had low expectations, having long ago tried their coconut), and Cuba Libre demerara. Tonight, back to Rum7Sugar to work on the list.
