Celebrate excessively everyone. For me, it’ll be stuffing, stuffing, and more stuffing, followed by copious amounts of pie.

But what kind of Pie is everyone making?
I am a traditionalist, so it is always Pumpkin and Mincemeat....

OK--totally not my idea (mad props to Rocketbetty Instagram posting)--but a Mai Tai in an Ohana Luau at the Lake glass garnished with fresh cranberries is definitely going to do my Thanksgiving toasting!!! Gobble, Gobble, fellow Moai!

I start at 7am tomorrow firing up the smoker for two turkeys: One in a dark brown sugar brine and one in an apple cider brine. Both will be smoked...for 6-8 hours...over apple wood.

Should be interesting.

I plan on finding out how well a Mai Tai goes with turkey & fixins.

I may try smoking one next year. Just started smoking things on my Weber kettle this year. May get ambitious in 2018.

Apple Cider Rum Punch

INGREDIENTS

1 cup aged rum
1 cup sweet vermouth
½ cup fresh lemon juice
¼ cup simple syrup
4 dashes Angostura bitters
½ red apple, very thinly sliced, plus more for serving
3 3x1-inch strips orange zest, very thinly sliced, plus more for serving
1 12-ounce bottle dry hard apple cider

PREPARATION

Combine rum, vermouth, lemon juice, simple syrup, and bitters in a large pitcher. Add 2 cups ice and stir until ice has mostly melted and punch is very cold.
Stir in apple slices and orange zest; gently stir in cider.
Divide punch among ice-filled old-fashioned glasses and garnish with more apple slices and orange zest.

Prepare Ahead: Punch (without apple, orange zest, and cider) can be made 1 day prior to serving. Chill... :fez:
