Free Aloha Punch for the first 20 guests, and of course the always fantastic half-priced cocktails and appetizers from 5 to 7. The Aloha Punch is actually a retired cocktail, that GM Kern Mattei is bringing out of retirement for one night only. It might be on this old menu.

Hope to see you there!

We'll try. They guard those recipes pretty tightly, but many have slipped out nonetheless.

Well, since you're already drinking for others, have a couple for me too!

Enjoy the Molokai - my happiest place on Earth.

Okay...all this talk of bacon...and rum...and bacon-flavored rum...and goats in tutus dancing the Charleston on hot burning coals under a full moon while the palm trees sway...has made me question my plans for next weekend...

So... I cancelled them all.

And, as long as my boss doesn't have any objection to me NOT driving while under the influence of several high-octaine beverages served by the Molokai girls, I am super-happy to say that I will be driving down to Fort Lauderdale next weekend to be there for this! :)

I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET YOU ALL! :) :) :)

Now, to find something to wear...Obviously something tropical...but to fez, or not to fez? Is everyone just going casual or are they dressing like it's Hukilau? I just don't want to show up and look like a crazy person (or crazier than what WE consider "normal").

I'm sure it sounds like i'm putting too much thought into this...

Glad to have you TiKiTackett,

It's generally pretty informal, but I'm sure there will be plenty of fezes in the crowd. I expect you'll be comfortable in your Hukilau finest if you want to.

So glad we are making it down for this! Now just to plan out the "Hukilau finest" for the two tiny blondes that are coming with us. They have almost as many options as their nutty parents. :fez:

More good news! Although we can only serve 20 of the retired cocktails for free, the Mai Kai has agreed to make em all night long. So if you aren't among the first 20 or you want a second, you can still order one for just $4.50 during happy hour (until 7pm) and $9 after that.

Oh, and Hurricane Hayward posted a nice little preview and drops a hint about what cocktail we'll be sampling: http://www.slammie.com/atomicgrog/blog/ ... -doldrums/

I'm so jealous of all of you right now! A couple friends of mine are flying down to FLA on Saturday. I told them to go if they can make it on Sunday.

If anyone is interested in grabbing some dinner after the meet and greet, I'll probably be stepping into one of those beautiful secluded dining rooms for some Mai Kai Crispy Beef. I hate to dine alone, and i'll use any excuse to spend extra time with new friends at the Mai Kai! :fez:

Of course, if the meet and greet continues past Happy Hour and into the night, I may just stuff my face with endless platters of Cheese Tangs, instead!

Hit me up at the meet and greet...Perhaps we could get a small group together!

Great night at the Mai Kai! Thanks to all who made it out. Especially Rev_Thumper and Kristiki for the surprise. The demerara cocktail was our special retired cocktail. Kern brought out some old menus showing the drink and its $1.50 price. We'll have pics eventually.
