Hey, I found this blog site that highlights scuba diving in Rapa Nui. This destination is being added to the top of the list.

Do I read it right as a modern underwear tribute Moai?

It almost makes you think about erecting one in the pool at Ohana...

Don't worry, he'll probably be too drunk to achieve that goal.

Maybe "sinking" is a better word choice.

The more difficult task will be recovering the heavy object from the pool on Sunday.

I just got back from the local marine consignment store which happens to regularly get in vintage dive gear. I looked at the price tag on an orange steel 72 with a 1/2 vertical stem K valve and was surprised to see they wanted big bucks for an out of hydro tank. It turns out it is a package deal... for a complete Kirby-Morgan hardhat rig with the communication box and 100' of surface supply hose.

This is one of those dive toys you need to have a few friends to play with, but is way too cool not to consider. It's the ultimate hooka rig, next to a real MkIV dress kit. We'd have to dig/rig up a surface supply manifold.

Do they have a special PADI c-card for these?

I tend to lean towards displaying vintage gear not actually using it! 8)

I agree 100% All diving is inherently dangerous. Any life support system should not be used without proper training and maintenance. I certainly do not advocate grabbing a sponge diver's helmet off the tikibar shelf and heading down to the beach after a bowl of punch. Every piece of vintage equipment, whether a toaster, blender, welder or diving regulator should be inspected and serviced before any energy source is applied.

Well, it depends.

Do you want safety? Or a good story?

My official position is: Safety First, and no cameras allowed

But if some old guy gives you a 20 year old light saber and it is still holding a charge, you have to push the "ON" button.
