Aloha to all and Mahalo :D

I hate to dissapoint, but unfortunately no, i am not THE tikibob. I am simply a cheap knockoff. The fake rolex watch of tikibob. You might even say the cheap Elvis impersonator of tikibob who really doesn't know what he is doing.

As for me, I found this wonderful haven of moai thanks to the Other paper. (If i remember right. It was more than ten minutes ago you know.) where i got to see Kukuahu's lovely picture calling my name to the Order. I am in Ohio by way of California. My wife used to live in Honolulu so i fell in love with tiki culture there. I will let you know more about me when i find something interesting to tell. Which isn't much. So until then....

Ah....there's Bob. We were starting to wonder.

The article I presume you are refering to was the one for the Hot Rod Hula Hop that was printed in the Alive, and the picture was of Fellow Moai Jim "Chisel Slinger" Robinson, and not myself. I did the interview, but Jim is the FOM poster boy.

Anyway, glad to have you on board. Stick around and chat when ya have the time. We just need to get to know you a bit.

BTW, Where'd you get that keen animated avatar? Too cool for school.

See, now i feel slighted. And it was the Alive article. Like I said, i have no memory. What were we talking about?

I am an open book, so feel free to get to know me. I'll start. I like pina coladas and being caught in the rain. :D

I found the avatar on a website. Somewhere. At some point in time. You just can't beat a dancing alcoholic drink

It'll have been a year this past July. My how time flies. I was born and raised there just outside LA. My wife got me out this way. So far I like it. But there is definetly not enough tiki around here. I don't understand why, it's not like we're THAT far away from any islands or anything. Just 2000 to 4000 miles. :D

Not even Setzer from the Stray Cats days? Which is oddly close in appearance to the Setzer of today. I used to think there was only one constant in the world. Change. Now I know there is two. Change, and the non-changing appearance of Setzer. (or three, the poster boy does not look like Setzer. Honest!?!?!)

Yeah, I'm pretty much just in charge of avatars. This place runs itself.

Those places are always handy.

So i'll spill the beans all about myself. I moved to Ohio in July of last year and work for Franklin University in downtown Columbus, but I was born and raised in Southern California, in and around LA. I met my wife in 1998 online in a chat room. (For a few years it was neat to see people's reactions to that, but now it seems everyone meets each other online so its no big deal anymore. And i thought I was special. :D ) She was living in Hawaii at the time. I eventually flew there to meet her in person for the first time, and that was that.

However I loved the Hawaiian culture. I would move there in a heartbeat, but she wouldn't live there anymore. Thats when I really got into tiki etc... Its a great history and there just isn't enough of it around. There were some bars/clubs in SoCal that were tiki-esque, but that doesn't count. So without any of the culture around I kind of fell off it for awhile. Then I moved here to Lancaster. And found out that there is a Tiki Lane. And on Tiki Lane there is Tiki Lanes. A bowling alley to be precise. So recently my love for the tiki gods has been rekindled and I have put off collecting Pez(which I have boxes and boxes of now. You can't beat a candy that you eat out of something's neck!) and have started collecting tiki. Although my collection is so small you can't see it yet, mainly because it doesn't exist yet. That will be changing here real shortly.

And unfortunately I can not say that my name real name is Tikibob. It's actually Brian. But when I get reincarnated I'm going to come back as Tikibob.

And there it is, all you never wanted to know about me. :D

Sorry Bob, we've all been a bit busy this week.

So Lancaster, huh? Any tiki out that way in the form of good junk shop hunting?

You get to Columbus much? We will probably meet up Friday night here in town if you wanna join us.

Imagine if we could get the 3 together  It would be like an age-progression, rockabilly, crime-fighting trio!!! I loved X, I wonder how Billy's doing these days.
