In response to a request for more info from initiates, a little about who I am...
My day job for the last 15 years or so has been designing and creating murals and scupture for restaurants and the like.
I have a line of Tiki vessels called Shakatiki and soon I hope to have some that are potable. Thanks for your interest so far!
I am jazzed about this forum from what I have seen. I've been wanting to get involved in a large scale Tiki project for some time. I'm particularly interested in creating architectual and mural elements for a lodge.
I've also been involved in musical performance, arranging and composition since the mid 70's. I'm currently collaborating with musicians on a prototype surreal Tiki show that features a Dennyesque combo, and various acts.
Looking forward to pulling my resources to co-create a Tiki happening in Columbus and meeting more of you to discuss the possibilities.
Tony

Well, there ya go! Another new Initiate Moai Ra'e with skills!

Tony, glad you could join us, and it was great meeting you at the HRHH.

I declare sponsorship of Shakatiki.

Hey, Tony. Welcome. I bought one of your hula mugs and it looks very cool next to the other mugs in my collection. Now I wish I bought a couple more. Are you in C-bus?

Beautiful. I'll get in touch with you toot-sweet (pm). I thought you were just a vendor, but you actually are the creator? Man, that's so great. Eventually, I'll probably get the entire set.
Mahalo!

Welcome Shaka! Your one of a number of people that I did not get a chance to really talk to, your mugs are very cool, great workmanship.

Yes, last night was great. Sorry if Ahu got a bit snookered, but I needed it. I wasn't able to drink much at the HRHH, so apparently I made up for it all in one night.

Anyway, everyone was a lot of fun, I had a blast, and my head hurts.

Gonna go lay down again now.

Ha ha! And hence the crazy message on my cell?
No worries luv, we all needed a release, it had been a hellish week for me - and that's why I was snookered as well!

Great times though, really enjoyed myself!

Shakatiki, great to meet you and chat!

Those are some great Tiki vessels. Can't wait for the potable collection! These seem to have kind of a Westwood meets Steven Crane style!

Yeah, the Shakatiki vessels were designed very well. The big turnoff for me though was that you could not drink out of them. I hate have something that is designed to be used but you cannot. Kind of defeats the purpose. Shakatiki, have you ever thought about making actual mugs that you can drink out of?

Mahalo,
Jeff

Hmmmm..... I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure it came from your number, but the only voice we actually heard was a female! Damion had called from my cell to let you know I had passed out.... maybe someone grabbed the phone and just dialed the last number? It was about 11:30pm? Or maybe it was the tiki gods?

Whatever the case, we must do that again!

I need to talk to Cleo more!

In defense of the inpotability of Tony's mug, they do look awesome on display. I do not drink out of my more 'special' mugs, they've been 'retired,' but I do have over a half a dozen Kahiki No. 1s and others that I insist my guests use to drink. IMO, Tony's mugs are for mostly display, and he has said that he's working on a potable version of the mugs. Now that's cool!

It was great talking to everyone on Friday night.
Nice to meet you Damion, Anastasia, Hoffa, Darryl, Lynn, Zack

Thanks for the good word Kid Mongo. Glad you found a good spot for them.
Thanks Cannibal. We'll catch up.

Jeff,
I was disappointed that the
vessels turned out to be better pencil holders than mugs.
That's why I didn't call them mugs.
Like anything, it's been a learning experience.
I'm working on a few ceramic designs from which one can actually drink a beverage!

Good to see you again Jay, Matt, and Jim.
Looking forward to a brief visit on Friday if we're still on.

Oh, we are still on. For sure. Anybody that can join us again (or for the first time) at Liu Pon Xi this Friday around 6-ish should really try to make it out.

(and I promise to be much less drunk this time  )

No way, swanky swizle stick holder maybe, but no pencils in those. Wish I had more scratch at the Hop I would have picked up a few for sure. However I plan on making a couple more trips to C-Bus and eventually move there, so just a matter of time. Keep up the good work.
