We'd like to hear something about both of you if we could. Are you seeking entry into the ranks of Fellow Moai?

DeGriz, I notice that like Cannibal you are a member of The Cult of the Eye. You weren't sent here to spy on us were you? Infiltrate and subvert? :x

 Just kiddin'...

Tell us about the CotE you guys. Inquiring minds and all. Where you from DeGriz? Er... Deech.

Hep, are you one of the cats I've been waiting to hear from? If so you were supposed to let me know when you signed up... and where's your pal?

Anyways, give us a primer on you and what you are all about if ya could there fellas.

Mahaloz,

Ahu

Hello there!

Yes, indeed, I hail from the Cult of the Eye. I am not a spy. -takes off spy hat and looks around nervously-

I, as with Cannibal, am one of the farther west-flung members of the Cult. I hail from the wilds of St. Louis, deep in.. well, the middle there. You may call me DeGriz or you may call me Deech, it helps me to keep different logons on different boards. I'll answer to either one.

Let's see, I came by this forum by way of Cannibal, who pointed the recent event out to me too late for my attendence, but I'm sure I'll be there next year, Fez a-flappn' in the breeze. I'm only starting to enjoy Tiki culture again after a far too short love affair with it when I lived on Maui. Kihei, Maui, if anyone is interested. Nowadays, my interests are fairly eclectic. Primarily, I'm getting into multi-media (not multimedia) projects like costuming and gadgeting. I'm an improv performer in a little troupe called The Dragon's Keep http://www.the-dragons-keep.com, I make haunted props and effects, you can see a few of my corpses at http://www.ninjacow.net/gallery/creatures?page=1, I like to work on pinball machines when I get the chance, I've restored a Tommy, Bride of Pinbot and a Xenon, though I don't have any pins at the moment (need more space!). I've also got some plans to move into puppetry and I'm an absolute freak for anything Henson.

Overall, I'm Brother Farnsworth. I can make just about anything out of anything, if the need arises, i can throw a reasonable mean party and have an unnatural tolorance for Chinese food.

Hum.. did I leave anything out? Probably. I'm terrible at talking about myself. I can happily talk about the things I do, but I have a hard time listing them off in any concise manner...

If you're curious about the Cult of the Eye, feel free to check out the website. Http://www.cultoftheeye.com we even have an FAQ and *everything*. :)

As far as seeking entry, I'm pretty laid back about the whole thing. I mean, I'm here with my buddy Cannibal and you guys are geographically reasonably close and doing some fun stuff with you cats could be grand, you know?

St. Louis is the city for you, then. :D I visited family in St Charles and was amazed at the Chinese buffet to person ratio.

Degriz, Welcome!

I was looking at an old Hula pinball machine up in Columbus one day a few months back..it was in sad shape but i thought, 'Gee...I wonder who knows about pinball machines that could help me fix it if I bought it?'
Now I know.

Still...claiming to be a friend to Cannibal is a risky move at best...one has to wonder.

Call me Slippery Jim, if you prefer. :) Nice referance spotting.

Tosted Ravioli are pretty good, but I've aquired a taste for the Toasted Cannollini from "That'sa Nice'a Pizza".

The Chinese buffet to person ratio is somewhere around 3 to 1, last I checked. They just put in an Emperor's Buffet out off of 40 by Long road.. it's the Chinese buffet to end all buffets. Not only Chinese, but Japanese, Mongolian and American stuff as well. It's massively, stupidly huge, with a sushi chef! I highly reccommend it.

Are we talking about Hula-Hula, I suppose? http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=1253

Ach. That's a rough one. The old electro-mechanical machines don't have parts available (or are very sparsely available). Plus, because of their age, the damage is typically excessive. I'm much happier doing machines that are from the 80's forward. :)

DeGriz, Aloha! Glad to have you aboard. What's The Cult of the Eye all about?

Mahalo to everyone for the greetings. :)

The Cult of the Eye is the noise from under your bed, the creaking floor when nobody's home, the vaugly human shape that you see in the room just before you turn on the lights!

Go check the site out, there's an FAQ and everything. If you have questions after that, I'll be happy to answer.. at least, what I can tell you, anyway.. it *is* a secret society after all. :)

Johnny asked, "you mean that one at 'eclectiques?' "

I don't know...it was a little antique shop on High Street in Columbus...I think. It was about 2 months ago and they were doing road construction right out front of the store and it was hard as hell to find a place to park - in fact, a guy had to move his car so I could leave.

I don't recall the name of the store. But the pinball machine was like $1500 and it was in kinda sad shape...it was way in the back left hand corner of the store.

And DeGriz, no...this machine looked older than the Hula Hula. I can't even describe it. It had more wood...less flash...very old, almost generic look....

Still would 've been cool had it been working.

If I get back up there, I'll take a digital snap of it, if it's still there. Or, perhaps one of our Columbus folks knows what I'm talking about.

I know what you are talking about, and it is from the forties I think.

Looks old and very simple for pinball. No flippers even.

In regards to pinball machines...this may be old news to some, but I remember seeing an older one in the antique mall on High and Como. It's on the first (ground level) floor, all the way back. I remember a Hula girl and an island theme, but not much else (other than that it wasn't terribly cheap).
