I've never been a bourbon drinker, but I have been expanding my repertoire in terms of drink choices. I have found a couple that i like, but this article makes me want to try more.

It's so... Beautiful.

Can you imagine how long and gnarly and twisted a chart like this for the rum industry would be?

I've got a few limbs I want to climb out onto in these bourbon trees, now.

Indeed! I am having it tatooed upside down on my belly for quick referencing in the field.

I'm in the same boat. I am more of a rummie, but have been getting into tequilas and whiskeys (bourbon and scotch, but I have not had much rye yet) lately. My main issue is finding one that's not necessarily a general purpose, but is good for sipping alone or with soda water and makes for a great additive while cooking. This may be sacrilege, but I am a firm believer that if I ain't gonna drink it, I ain't gonna cook with it.

Suntory acquires control of Maker's Mark, Jim Beam and Knob Creek…. plus some other stuff… for $13.6 billion.

It was all the buzz at this weekend' cocktail conference. If they do the same as Kirin has done with Four Roses (that is, write the checks & keep their hands off), all should be good.....!

Suntory whiskies were popular with my parent's crowd 30 plus some years ago in California. It went well with Sansui audio and salads made with crab and avocado.

uploaded in octal but composed in analog.

Kirin saved Four Roses' reputation after it had been run into the ground by Seagrass Corp.

Given that Maker's almost committed career suicide by announcing plans to begin cutting their current batches with water, to extend each production batch. Until, all of the MM Ambassadors rose up and made them correct this error in the making, I think Suntory's acquisition might be a saving grace...before the locals committed another "New Coke" guffaw!

A new bottle of Blanton's is helping me stay warm during these cold spells! DAMN!!! Still digging the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, too! BT, still sipping from that bottle of Blanton's?

For you rye fans out there, The High West barreled Manhattan, known as The 36th Vote (in honor of Utah's deciding vote to end Prohibition) is back in production. For this barrel aged cocktail, High West uses their Double Rendezvous Rye combined with their own crafted sweet vermouth and bitters...aged for 90-days in white oak barrels. Damn good, y'all!

I chill my bottle, drop two Luxardo Maraschino cherries in a glass and serve chilled without ice. INSTANT DECOMPREHSION!!!

Top Bourbon Bars in America: http://gobourbon.com/the-top-bourbon-ba ... rica-2015/

Hey Gumbos, who's up for a field trip:
Quote:
Yardbird Southern Table and Bar, Miami, FL: If we told you that one of the hottest restaurants in Miami uses Bourbon as a backbone to its menu would you believe us? Any doubters can head over to the Bourbon oasis known as Yardbird to enjoy one of their Bourbon flights, or cool down with their signature drink, Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade.

Red Palms are quite fortunate:
Quote:
Big Star, Chicago, Ill: Looking more like a dive bar in West Texas, than perhaps the hottest spot in the Wicker Park neighborhood, Big Star uses a unique combination of tacos, $3 Bourbon shots and 1950’s country music to drawl in its standing-room-only crowds at night. It also offers only American made whiskeys and at one time, offered 11 private barrel selections to the Bourbon geeks that visit.

Sable, Chicago, Ill

The Barrelhouse Flat, Chicago, Ill

Longman & Eagle, Chicago, Ill

Delilah’s, Chicago, Ill: Chicago has many options to find great Bourbon, but none is more iconic than Delilah’s. Since 1993, owner Mike Miller has offered a wide variety of Bourbon and music making it a Bourbon connoisseurs dream.
Untitled Supper Club, Chicago, Ill

as are the Kon-Tikis:
Quote:
Japps Since 1879, Cincinnati, OH

Century Bar, Dayton, OH: No TV’s. No jukebox. Just 115 Bourbons and over 300 whiskeys to choose from while you listen to music from the 1930’s. The home of the former Kette & Sons Rye Whiskey Distillery, Century Bar also regularly holds blind tastings.

Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar, Covington, KY

Wiseguy Lounge, Covington, KY: Can you get great Bourbon here? Check. Can you get great cocktails here? Check. Can you get maybe the best New York style pizza outside of Manhattan in the same building? Check.

Newberry Bros Coffee, Newport, KY: Over 300 Bourbons. Enough said.

and Kokorus:
Quote:
Jack Rose, Washington, DC: It has the best whiskey collection on the East side of the Mississippi. No really, they do. A must visit for any whiskey drinker.

Dry 85, Annapolis, MD: You might want to plan your visit to select one of their Bourbon flights on a Sunday when they serve their Bacon Brunch.

Bourbon, Washington D.C.

McCormacks Big Whiskey Grill, Tuckahoe, VA: With over 350 Bourbons to choose from, you should be able to find what you’re looking for. Their little brother, “McCormack’s Whiskey Grill” might not be “Big” but it boasts 150 Bourbons and is located in the Richmond, Virginia area as well.

Quequegs:

Citizen Public House, Boston

It smells like it?

Just use Prell and bring a fifth in the shower instead.
