I had the best of intentions, but the best I could do was a martini in a green glass.

All things considered, I would really rather be at Trader Sam's right now.
This is my best try. It'll will have to do.

I have not had a martini since you came to visit and I broke my eyeglasses.
You are a bad influence, I think.

When can you come back???

(I got new glasses)

Well, it was Rob who made you that martini. He will be in St. Louis in mid-July for work. Bring glasses you don't care about.

About to go to a work happy hour. That seldom bodes well for good drinks for this non-beer drinker. :(

11 Rum Cocktails

Hmmm...Rum and Artichoke (El Dorado five-year-old rum, Cynar, pineapple gastrique with a Champagne vinegar base, lime, Petite Canne sugar cane syrup and Angostura bitters), the Super Fine (combining Hamilton demerara rum, Giffard Banane du Brésil liqueur and a pickled shiitake mushroom brine from the kitchen), the Everlasting Gobstopper (a hot buttered rum with sweet potato and a duck fat prosciutto wash).

I'm all for experimentation but, wow.

The happy hour thread has been dormant since June 2016?!?!?

What have we become?

Just for that I am going to have all the drinks tonight as penance.

The shame.

Good thing that I have a bottle of OFTD waiting at home.

After the week I've had, I'm afraid to start happy hour. May last substantially longer than 60 mins.

Happy hour is a frame of mind.

In my mind it is from when I get home from a trip until 12 hrs before my next trip.

Easy.

Fundraiser for fire victims at Forbidden Island tonight. That will encompass my happy hour activities.

Once again the Happy Hour thread has sadly fallen down the pages. What's everyone going to have to warm themselves up when they get home from, or on their way home from, work tonight?

I've been on a Vieux Carre kick lately, alternating bourbons, ryes, and rums in the rye and cognac positions. I've also done a variation using a root beer liquor and amaro for the benedictine and sweet vermouth that really makes it something altogether different, but still a great cocktail.

Thinking about a nice Hot Toddy with Siesta Key spiced or going the boozy Hot Chocolate route.

I blame the Cocktails Now! group on Facebook. I get lazy and post photos there with no witty commentary. I'll work to do better.

We could get witty there, too.

Has anyone seen the Luxardo bitter Blanco? I would like to try a blue negronie when I get off call in two weeks.

Another week plus on-call, but that won't keep me from mixing up some tasty spiritless cocktails.

The Oster Snowflake ice crusher and vintage soda syphon will be out tonight. Rose and orange blossom water, orgeat, falernium, and root syrups will accompany.

Strong tea, coffee and cocoa for a base. The vintage Sunbeam C30 vacuum coffee maker could even make an appearance. (Fans of June and Ward Clever's TV kitchen will recognize this appliance.)
