Funny story about he painting...
The tiki-tag-alongs were in Springfield, Il doing a bit of shopping at a antique store .They found the picture hanging and thought of me as my birthday was coming up soon. Needless to say I was thrilled to get such a cool painting.
Fast forward to my last years xmas party.
Riptide and Savage Patty are at the party, and they ask me where I got the painting, cause they had their eye on one just like it at the antique store by there house......yep, same painting, swiped right outa their own backyard, so- to -speak
I like the brown colors of the paiinting.

my research found that they are hand-blown glass done by this guy out in california - magic sands.

http://www.magicsandsblownglass.com/pet ... zoom2.html

they are blown into brass molds based on a tiki mug he found (?) the glass has an iridescent surface not unlike tiffany glass. kind of weird and cool at the same time.

I went to check out the moai at the antique and thrift store today, and if I can figure out how to download the picture from my tiny digital that I sneaked into the store, I'll post it. I didn't feel that the little statue was worth $250. It's a small moai sitting on a block of stained pine. It doesn't look hand carved, no paperwork with it to prove it had been in the Field museum. When I turned over the statue you could still see the shadow of a $50 price written on it.

It wasn't a total loss though..on the thrift side of the store I found these:

marked down to 3 bucks. Of course the booze was extra.

I found this intersting. A zen clock that wakes you up with a very soothing chime. It's so relaxing and quiet that it would never wake me, but I programed it to chime the hour and I just like the looks of it.

I know it doesn't look like it has ever been used.
I already have a case I bought a couple of years back from a different thrift store.

I like that this one is hard sided, but it has cheap felted plastic on the inside with no padding.

The last owners made little felt sleeves to go over the clips that hold the glasses in.
I guess when we travel now, we can carry enough booze to make a few drinks

Hey Experiment 33 and Exotica 59, if people don't know any better they will think we have some sort of code names involving the letter E and a number.

Goodwill was good to me the other day.

I found Four Martin Denny albums.

1.) Martin Denny Plays the Theme From the United Artists Motion Picture Hawaii
2.) A Taste of Honey
3.) Another Taste of Honey
4.) Latin Village

All four are in great condition, even the sleeves.

I've been meaning to post this and after I told the story to some of the folks at Mel and Roger's the other day, I figure now's the time.

Ok, here's the back story:

A couple of months back, Leah goes out for the evening with some friends. They end up at the house of a friend of one of those friends. Leah notices some tiki mugs behind the bar. Leah chats about them for a while, tells her how her husband colects them, etc. and this lady ends up giving her one. I wake up in the morning to find this sitting on our kitchen counter (pardon the blurry pic)...

Have I mentioned lately I have the best wife in the world?

Shut up! That's an Illinois Moulding Company shadowbox! :D I collect those! In fact, I have that very one hanging over my fire place, only mine has cream paint with gold flecks. I've got three more of varying designs in my dining room.

Hey Kitchy, I have the same Mirror only in black and the mirrored edges have the gold veins, and I just saw another just like it sitting at my favorite anitque and thrift store on Monday. It was missing one of the thin mirror edges though..
When I saw it I thought that was the one that Riptide and S. Patty were talking about at my party. Strange...I can go months without seeing any and then, BAM! bunches of them turn up.
Great score on the mug Corn! Leaha could talk the stripes of a zebra! I've got to have her go with me to the big antique flea market next spring.

Found one of these today:
Image
(yes I'm too lazy to take my own pics)
I also found 10 glass light fixture orbs that I will turn into fishing floats for 49 cents each!
Plus, a really cool basket.

While shopping with Kitschywoman on Saturday I found one of these:
Image
The only thing stamped on it is the old Kings Island logo below the old man.
As seen here:
Image
I also found a Treasure Craft menehune sitting next to a giant pineapple.
It's covered in holes for toothpicks.
