Y'all have been a good resource for all things rum and tiki, so...

I, Rich "The Kazz" Kaszeta hereby declare my intent to join the Fraternal Order of Moai.

I'm off here in the land Somewhat North of Boston (New Hampshire), where we don't have a lot of active Tiki culture (although I'm pretty sure the greater Dartmouth community has at least one member), but I travel a lot, and have a deep love of rum (indeed, if I wander about the joint, I could probably scare up well over 20 bottles of different Rum, Rhum, Ron, Cachaca, etc).

Showing that I've at least been in one Tiki bar in recent history, here's my recent trip to Tikicat in KC:

So, what all do you want to know?

Aloha !

Welcome... you will always find solid opinions on all things rum and tiki here on F.O.M.'s shores.

Curious... are you originally from the New England area ? Rare to see a "Y'all" that far North.

So... Whats Y'all's favorite Cocktail?

Aloha!

We have a few folks in Nashua, Massachusetts.

If you swing by Garrisons in Billerica on Sunday, or Princeton Station in North Chelmsford on Wednesday, there might be a guy with a ukulele. He has more aloha tiki scene than all of Peoria, Omaha, and Gila Bend combined.
(Shh, The Granite Tiki doesn't know his movements are being observed)

I'm from a little bit of everywhere. Family's originally from CT and RI, but I was born in upstate NY. And then lived in a bunch of places, DE, AZ, MI, TN, MN[1], TN, and NH being the major stops. Lived in NH and AZ the longest of any of them.

Favorite cocktail is probably a Negroni. But favorite rum cocktail is a classic daquiri, followed closely by a Mai Tai. I do like a good Painkiller on occasion.

Wait, there's tiki of any sort in Gila Bend?

(I go through there all the time for work)

People always forget the Rev. Thumper. Tiki Twinkle, Bargoyle, Professor Pineapple and myself plan on helping him out with an image campaign this June. Unsanctioned, of course.

Faux Black Magic? Not that much into the spiced rum. Does Allen's make such a beast? I haven't been doing much bottom-shelf shopping at the liquor store aside from my like of Sobieski vodka (my Polish-Lithuanian roots)

Or am I missing a reference?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen%27s_Coffee_Brandy
Quote:
Allen's Coffee Brandy is a coffee-flavoured liqueur popular in New England, especially Maine, where it has been the best-selling liquor product for over 20 years. Sales in 2008 were 1,100,000 bottles. With a population of 1,300,000, Mainers consumed nearly one bottle for every man, woman, and child in the state. Allen's has been called both "the champagne of Maine" and "an epidemic."

Ahh, yes. I've definitely had some Allen's over the years. Not really my thing, but hey...
