I'm crying out for help from the mixologists in the port. We're heading to a German Sparkle Party tomorrow. Not really sure what that means, but I think I'm wearing a leotard and the moai sequin tuxedo jacket from FOM Prom. I'd like to bring the fixins for a cocktail or two and make a few rounds for our gracious host and her guests. So I want to use some Goldschlager for the visual, and the host brought fireball to our sci fi party that many of you attended, so she must like that kind of thing? Man that stuff is so overpowering. I also know this is a vodka crowd, so let's all put away our high falutin ideas about mixology and make something pretty and drinkable (I'll bring a nice sipping rum for myself).

Drinkable test #1
1.5 Vanilla Vodka
1 Cointreau
.5 Gold
Cocktail Glass

I think it's got to have .5 Gold for it to show up, but this is still mostly cinnamon spice.

Drinkable test #2
1 Cranberry Juice
1.5 Vanilla Vodka
1 Cointreau
.5 Gold
Cocktail Glass

I think this is better than #1, but that's not saying much. Something tells me lemon might brighten it up a little, but could be too much.

So, any other thoughts? Given the host, I'm partial to cocktail glass presentation, but I am thinking soda and a collins glass could help. I'm also thinking about trying applejack or apple juice. I'm not going into chocolate.

Couple thoughts:

1. Agree 1000% Goldschlager is VERY overpowering so I'd batch a simple build cocktail like "Ciderschlager" which is 1oz Golschlager; 8oz Apple Cider or Hard Cider, that way you could give it a good shake before pouring; or just serve it chilled straight up (makes for a fun morning ;) )

2. Alternatively, if you're really just after the "sparkle", you can buy edible gold leaf for drinks on Amazon or probably at your local cake decorating supply shop :) It'd be beautiful in a mojito :)

Riffing on the Mojito thought, mint is kind of close to peppermint and the 'Shlag' is a peppermint schnapps.

Rum, sugar, lime, Shlag (to say it's in there), edible gold glitter and soda water. I'd use a popular rum, available in 1.75l plastic bottles.

Yeah, that was the impetus for the party theme. Here it is embedded:

I added a couple of pics. My teeth look crazy because I was wearing a pimp grill from Party City. The party itself was fun, but not as crazy as the video or the costumes seem. Other than when we took photos, it was a regular party. I took patiki's advice and ditched the Goldschlager in favor of edible gold flakes that I picked up at Michael's.
