Greetings and salutations fellow fans of all things tiki!
I'm new, and am declaring my interest and intention of becoming a FOM member in the future.
Ok. Deep breath now.
Big question about tiki bar restoration. I've picked up a cool little bar unit that utilized more industrial staples than I've ever seen to attach the face of the bar. I had to take the bar apart to transport, and the face/facade staples aren't holding. I'm going to initially reconstruct with well placed wood screws (drilled from the inside of the bar). Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Industrial staples is a bit vague. Narrow crown, wide crown, 18 gauge are all different.

What is the base material? Decoration thickness?

Split rivits are an option. Adhesives, too. More staples? Pawn shops are full of pneumatic staplers.

Aloha SurfDrummerDave,

Glad to see you landed in our port. I have enjoyed talking with you at the last couple of SG101 events. When you get time, tell us more about yourself.

Also, you can post pictures of the bar you are working on and the mechanically inclined (like foredeckape) will weigh in with advice.

Cheers!

First off... ALOHA !
I love Seattle !! Spent some significant time there in the late 80's when I was in the Coast Guard and I try and get back there every other year and treat myself with a stay in the Beatles room at the Edgewater, a visit to Bathtub Gin & Co., some of the Best Oyster slurping on the planet, Beecher's Mac & Cheese etc..

Might be visiting before end of year for a mileage run on Delta if the Sky Gods cooperate. How is the Tiki Bar scene looking there these days?

As for....

Welcome! Yeah--we'd love to see the progress of your project!

Most of us have a few ongoing ones ourselves, too. You are in a good place.
