Hi everyone,

I'm Amy, and I live in Stone Mountain with my husband and partner, and I know we are all pretty excited about the possibility of becoming more involved with FOM. I am a life long tiki lover, which is something I inherited from my parents and my grandparents. My parents had their 1964 wedding reception at a Hawaiian themed place in Detroit, and we went to Polynesian themed restaurants throughout my childhood, where I had a practice of charming extra drink umbrellas out of the waitstaff. Tiki joints for me have always been my happy place and I love to share them with others. We have a modest tiki mug collection and while we are completely out of room, we always find room for just one more. :)

I'm an anthropologist and folklorist who moved out of teaching to work in faculty training and instructional design, although I'm currently taking a "mini retirement" to work on some book and writing projects.

Looking forward to meeting some more of you!

Aloha! Welcome to the Port. Mahalo for following the empty rum bottles here. We will let you know the next time the Tongariki are gathering for a meet and greet or some other tomfoolery.

Aloha Professor Babelon! Welcome to the Port. Always great to find more Atlantans who love some good tiki fun. I look forward to meeting you and your husband at one of our upcoming events.

Hello-hello! A folklorist? That sounds AWESOME--I am a writer/editor who really digs great stories. Would love to hear more about this sometime soon--hopefully at an upcoming event! Please stay tuned. :)

Of course that is very useful information to know. Definitely not a field study! Don't want everything to be work! :)
