Wow does it look spectacular...More Disney than Disney... Seriously the level of detail is amazing, and it is now more polynesian looking than Disney's Polynesian Hotel...all they need is a Trader Sam's!

Whoa, Thanks for sharing this! That does look pretty incredible, and one more reason to do a side-trip to Universal. :wowza:

The dedication ceremony was nice. They had a huge group from New Zealand and a singer from the island!

So excited to explore this new spot!

Jealous! Are you going on all those crazy slides or just hanging on the beach? 8)

OK after a day at Volcano Bay here are my thoughts:
It is probably the most beautiful water park I have ever seen...and as the landscape matures it is sure to get better. There are tikis everywhere...the level of theming is extremely impressive.

The Tapatapa queuing system has issues. It is a great idea, but because you can only virtually queue for one slide at a time, you will find yourself with mostly beach time ( or lazy river time), rather than riding slides. We tapped in for the aqua coaster when we first got there, and it was about a 2.5 hour wait...during this time we could not do any other slides or queue for anything else...So after getting there arounf 10 am, getting a chair and towel, finding the aqua coaster and reserving it, we were not actually able to ride it until about 1pm... after that we were able to queue up for another slide...another 45 minute wait, by the time we got off that slide it was after 2pm, and tapping into another slide would put us outside of 3:00... SO the idea of riding a bunch of their slides (and they have many) desn't really seem feasible... They really need to re-figure how this system works.

The Lazy Rivers (they have 2) are both great...the caves on the slow moving lazy river did not have their fiber optics working and were just caves... The secon lazy river is not so lazy, moves very quickly and even has a wave machine adding a little extra element... We floated around this one many times.
In the end, it was an enjoyable day, just wish we had been able to experience more of the slides and attractions. The park is beautiful, there is plentiful food options and some cocktails too.
