Aloha, kats and kittens!

The Hot Rod Hula Hop is revving up and ready to blow the doors off of 2014!

Yeah, you read the title right. Our headliner on Saturday night this year is in fact "The Greatest Rock-N-Roll Band In The World", The Supersuckers!

They have a new album out titled "Get the Hell" and it is absolutely brimstone-bound and on fire.

You can check it out here: http://supersuckers.com/get-the-hell/

What's that? You've never heard of The Supersuckers? Are you f*cking kidding me? Man, you gotta get out from under whatever bridge you've been livin' under and start payin' attention.

These dudes here will utterly and completely rock your pale-from-living-under-said-bridge face right clean off.

But wait! There's more! A lot more! (of course there's more.. it's a Hot Rod Hula Hop for cryin' out loud!)

Joining The Supersuckers on the stage that weekend you will also experience the sci-fi surf reverberated spook show awesomeness that is..

The Coffin Daggers

And on top of that, you will spend Friday evening dancing the soles of your shoes off on the wild ride through hell that is hometown favorite and HRHH veterans..

Vegas 66!

Now you didn't think we'd stop there did ya? Heck no, cousin!

The Kahikis let me book my personal pick for the newest soon to be HRHH classic performance that you all will be talking about until 2015 and crying about if you miss..

Also hailing from Columbus Ohio..

Righteous Buck and the Skull Scorchers!

http://tmblr.co/ZQHmdx14wJ33p

And.. as if that alone is not worth your time and cash..

We are bringing back the burlesque to HRHH 6 with..

The Ooh La Las!

Image

So how about that, kids?

What? You want even more??

Okay, I can handle that...

How about living legend Francis Llacuna playing live hapa haole inside The Grass Skirt Tiki Room while you enjoy a full luau dinner and classic tiki cocktails?

Image

Image
Image
Image

And what if we also throw in the exotic vibraphonics of Mr. Roland Remington while you are there?

Image

And what if I mentioned that our very own golden-voiced jet pack donning hero Mr. Jet Sterling is flying in to emcee this mind boggling spectacle? And that he is bringing along the King of Bachelor Pad Magazine and Radio Show and world renowned burlesque-pert Java to join in?

Image

Image

Do you still want more?

Of course you do, and I don't blame you. While that is a veritable aircraft carrier of incredible, we might as well take it fully over the top, right?

What if I said we are still looking to finalize the band bill with two more acts that I know you will love? All I am waiting for is the final details.

Not to mention the hot rods, vendors, bikes, bowling, scooters..

..and the ridiculously awesome mug from Poptiki of Colorado!

Hahaha! you were expecting a picture weren't you? Not yet, my drooling comrades in ceramic tiki salaciousness. But soon! And for the rest of your life. Wait, what? Let's just say that I have seen the pictures and it is far beyond my expectations this year.

Now, what more can you possibly want???

How about a really nice modern hotel this year that is right between The Grass Skirt and Sequoia Pro Bowl? Yep, about ten minutes from both locations smack dab in the middle and you won't even need to get on a freeway all weekend. And if you are bringing your car for the show, they are setting up a car wash station in the hotel lot for you to preen your ride to perfection before you head out. It is also close to some of the best vintage shopping in Columbus, as well as record stores (yes, vinyl records, ya goon) and terrific restaurants.

And what if I remind you that like all Fraternal Order of Moai events, we offer the absolute maximum bang for your hard earned dollar? Yes, this event is a low cost show. How much? That we will be on the website soon. But it won't be anything you can't afford, and you simply can't afford to miss this!

In addition, and also like all FOM events, this is a charity show. Those aforementioned hard earned dollars go to support Cure CMD. That's congenital muscular dystrophy, and it affects children. So what you spend enjoying this weekend to end all weekends will go to a very good cause, and you can feel very good about it after you recover.

http://www.hotrodhulahop.com

Now we need a little something from you in return. Something easy. Something you can do without much trouble..

Buy a ticket. Tell your pals. Tell everyone. Print the flier above and hand it out. Need a whole bunch to hand out? Going to a car show and wanna do a good deed? We will gladly print and send you a whole mess of 'em.

That's it. That's all we ask. Fair trade, yeah?

See you in August! Updates as they come in!

Love and mahalo,

Ahu and the Kahikis/Kontikis and the HRHH Team

I heard a rumor... yes I did..

That The Cryptokats are back in action.

That would be our Fellow and pal Heath "The Red" Crecelius aka Freakytiki who along with the rest of the Cryptokats proceeded to tear the MFing roof off the place at HRHH3.

Could this be a returning band for 2014?

Stayed tuned.. same hep kat time, same hep kat channel.

This looks awesome! I would love to see the Supersuckers again. The only tough thing is that it is also the same weekend as the Cleveland Mods v. Rockers Rally. Maybe Cleveland Friday and Columbus Saturday...

We dig what they do at M vs. R, and we hate to compete, but HRHH has classically been on this weekend. Maybe next year we can talk to some of our Ohio brethren and try to coordinate.

That said, absolutely do both! Cleveland Friday and Columbus Saturday! Separate tickets on Friday and Saturday at HRHH, so no problem.

According to my records (as in the folder I found this photo in) The Cryptokats played HRHH2.

Y'all need to do what us midwest types do when we hit the road for Ohana every year:

Rent a van and ride out together.

We call ours the Kahiki Short Bus. Everybody meets up in one location and we all pack the van and burn rubber. Waaaay more fun and waaaaay cheaper.

You get there waaaaay faster, too, when Ahu is driving. You just may want to cover your eyes...

Do we need to standardize on a regional dialect in this thread? 8)

There is only one English that I can think of.

I am leaning towards a plane travel to HRHH. If there are bus load of person from Commonwealth Boston suburban present or past I will drive also. (Nashua be North Boston bedroom).

If we get to vote on dialect, I vote Deep South.

"If'n y'all is fixing on drivin' to the Hop, who all's is leavin from Boston? 'Cause I'll come with."

Oh, and I'm not driving from Boston. That was just an example.

I unfortunately have a prior commitment that weekend. <sad trombone> :(

Whose-a leavin' from X
Or
Whose-a comin' from x
or
Which ones of you all damn Yankees is fixin' on comin'

And you would follow with:
"I ain't 'cause things is all caterwhampus and I ain't got no time to leave the hollow for any hootenanny with no bunch of damn Yankees."

But seriously dudes, I would way totally be into catching a ride. It would be way rad to do the cruise in a van. Like some dudes can crash while the other dude drove.
