I think it would have to be an Ancient Mariner... a beautifully balanced drink...Spice,strong,sour, sweet...perfection... It's become a favorite!

A dark and stormy with a strong, spicy ginger beer would likely win. The Aviator or a Singapore Sling would be a close second.

I seem to remember a night of Aviations in Key West... I think we all but kiiled the big bottle of Henrick's that night :-)
I wonder if rather than sticking to one drink we could stick with one bartendet...and in that case Patiki would win...

I do love Mai Tai's but I would have to say a Dark & Stormy- Kraken ginger beer & Kraken.

Hello,

This, for me, would certainly be a 2:1:3/4 Daiquiri made with overproof black rum. It's sour, sweet, and so far as I can tell I could live forever on them.

Also, and most importantly, they're delicious.

Cheers,

DS

A classic daiquiri, but using an overproof white rum (preferably Rum Fire from Jamaica or with a Cana Brava). Shaken with ice and double strained.

Why? Because they are goddamned delicious and clean and refreshing.

Tiki Basterd any day of the week.

However, I am excited to refill my Cocktail Agents flask with some more Reverend Stiggins' Revenge.

I haven't worked my way through many of the classic bars or recipes, but I still haven't found anything I like more than a proper Mai Tai. Judging from this thread, I really need to try a Painkiller, however.

It might be the Painkillers talking, but I've recently been substituting Brimleys Shipwreck Coconut Creme Rum instead of Coco Real in my Painkillers.

Can I pick two? If not, I'd go with a traditional Navy Grog. If I get two, my second choice would be the Jet Pilot, definitely.

A solid Old Fashioned. The orange, bitters, and cherries make the bourbon so fantastic. It's always a nice, satisfying, sweet burn.

Second would be a Ramos Gin Fizz. Fluffy magic! More than the ones we've had in NOLA, I love the ones that Lucky makes for me at Acacia. It takes him so much time, but he never grumbles when I order one... or three...

Third would be a delicious Mai Tai... this can be served anytime, anywhere.

And my perennial favorite, only at poolside/oceanside, is a Pina Colada. It just tastes like vacation to me. And paired with a turkey club, delivered to my beach chair by the staff while in my bathing suit... that is my heaven.

Oh, and a shout out to a Corona with Lime on a hot Saturday afternoon after a bit of yard work, and before a shower and nap!

Black Magic might be it from an indulgence standpoint.

but from a functionality standpoint, the sazerac comment above might be the kicker. simple, full refreshing full flavor, low sugar content.

or maybe a drier side daiquiri - 4:2:1.

Shit. maybe a 1933 zombie. dry, strong, and all those baking spices.

This is impossible.

I don't think I could choose just one but Cast Away ranks right up there because of its smooothness!

It's always fun when an old thread gets resurrected. I totally agree with this, then I realized I said it in the first place.

Never tried that one, I just looked it up and will have to try it tonight.

Edit: So I tried this with Glenlivet 12, Cherry Heering, Red Vermouth and fresh OJ. I liked it but not my favorite.

Jet Pilot because...rum. But I do enjoy a cold Pacifico with lime on a hot day.
