Folks, Daddy-O is not doing well. He is about to endure the painful process of having a stem cell transplant. What coincides with this is some of the most lethal chemotherapy that is allowed by law, to try and purge the body as best as possible. On top of this, Daddy-O is about to amass a world of medical debt to add insult to chemotherapy.

This is the latest posting from Daddy-O:

This is awkward for me. Many of you offered to help me with donations when I was first diagnosed with cancer. I told you all to wait until I had an account set up. A lawyer assured me that it's okay to accept gifts, just keep in mind they're not tax-deductible. If it's not too late, I can use the help. I'm now preparing for a stem cell transplant in May. My PayPal account is daddyogrande@yahoo.com. Thank you.

Thank you everyone! If you don't want to use PayPal, a check can be sent to me at 2801 Ocean Park Blvd #206, Santa Monica, CA 90405.

Would members of this austere group be interested in collecting (pooling) donations and giving these to Daddy-O in the name of the Fraternal Order of Moai? If so, I will gladly spearhead the efforts. He really needs our help and support, if at all possible.

MAHALO NUI LOA!

I like that idea Vince! Count me in!

FYI:

The Straitjackets manager is trying to put together a series of benefit shows, the game plan is to have a bunch of shows around the country on the same night if possible. I'm working with him on the one here in Chicago. It will probably be held at Fitzgeralds in Berwyn, when it all comes together, I'll be starting a thread on it here so stay tuned!

Not sure of a date yet, but hopefully it'll be soon.

You can contact their manager through The Los Straitjackets website.

Tiki Mo and I will gladly put together a show here in Little Rock. Iki Pohaku -- the Society of Tiki, can host the one here. What is the target date?

Perhaps the Kon-Tiki chapter can sponsor a benefit show at Daddy Katz. PM me with the scoop on the date and what not. We can talk to some local bands about maybe helping out.

Hep, maybe we could also "pass the fez" during the Kon-Tiki Art Jam? Just a thought...

Yep. This is a good idea. How do you want to proceed?

The opener has to be a non-instrumental band.
So, Vegas 66 would be perfect.

If this happens...

I would like to get permission to record this show with multiple cameras, edit it, sell DVDs and give the money to D-OG.

We need to get the Dayton burlesque troupe involved in this show!

I'd be happy to contribute to a FOM fund. I'm also wondering about the date; maybe we could do something in the Northeast with Ninth Wave?

This is the latest from the Straitjackets manager

As soon as I get a set date from him I'll be sure to post here.

On behalf of Danny: "gracias a ustedes, señoras y señores muy"

For those of you interested in doing a benefit for Danny, here's the latest info I got from Jake this morning...

Jake Guralnick wrote:
Looks like we are doing a very cool LA star studded benefit for Danny on June 7 in LA.

I was thinking maybe we should make all those benefits that week (since it is a Tuesday) so any time between June 7-12
Would that work for you at all?

Man, I wish I could attend the one in LA!

I will be working with FitzGerald's here in Berwyn, IL and hope to have a firm date for the show here within the next few days.

I can always set up a PayPal account that will allow everyone to have access and make their donations. The amounts that folks donate would be kept confidential. We could also maintain this for a period and (in turn) make several donations to the Daddy-O fund.
