Aloha everyone!
I'm just showin' off my latest creation, my first hand-crafted ukulele.
It's a tenor scale uke with a black walnut body, mahogany neck, and babinga fretboard and bridge.
The inlay is pua shell and herringbone patterned wood.
It is fitted with an interior transducer pickup and Gibson tuning pegs.

I finally fitted it with strings today (Worth browns) and got it tuned up.
The string action is amazing. It has a very light touch and plays like butter.
I may switch the strings to a thicker set to bring out some of the low end, but overall I'm very happy with it.

The next one I will make out of Hawaiian Koa and I may try some inlay in the fret board too.

If anyone is interested in purchacing a custom uke from me, just let me know. I'm in the process of equiping my shop to be able to make instruments too.
Thanks for looking! :fez:

Great piece Fred, I still say you should sell it to pay for Ohana.

Fred - that is incredible work.

Around how much will you be charging for one of those?

Thanks Joe!
For one like I just made I would probably charge $300, but I could certainly go higher or lower depending on type of wood, detail and inlay, quality of hardware, etc.

Thank you everyone for your comments.
This was definately a labor of love and I will be doing many more I think.

 Thanks don!
You're probably right, but I figure I would get a few under my belt before I started charging market prices, especially if those first one or two go to people I know. Then I can get my name out there as someone who makes a good uke.
We'll see what happens. I don't even know if there will be any interest in them at all.

Thank you Kris.
I can't wait until the warmer weather hits so I can annoy my neighbors by playing out on the patio every evening with a cold cocktail.

Just when I thought you couldn't amaze me more...you do. :wowza: If I knew how to play the Uke I would be adding that lovely to my growing Finky collection. As it is, Chip won't even let me play the stereo.

Why thank you!

How about if you get one I will throw in a lesson book for free?
