Personal Statement: There was one?
I saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds in '06 and they had a young guitar player named Nick Curran in the Jimmy Vaughn spot. I was initially struck by what a great guitar player he was and how his style was so very well adapted to the Thunderbird sound... polished Texas boogie blues. What really caught my ear were the two Sonics covers they played (Shot Down and Have Love Will Travel). A few years later I heard Curran's solo disc Reform School girl.... between his brutal Little Richard vocals and tuneful blues/R&B/punk infused guitar he was a force to reckon with. Plus... he looked the part in spades! RIP Nick Curran. Now buy Reform School girl and crank it up!
