Easily one of the funkiest musicians ever and of course his output with the Jimmy Castor Bunch has been sampled heavily. One of my early influences too.

Story time: sometime around 1981 I hit a rummage sale at my high school and found a big stack of 60s-70s funk 45s, among which was a large selection of James Brown and Jimmy Castor's Troglodyte (#6 on the pop charts, 1972.) I had not up to that point been familiar with the genre, but immediately took to the James Brown so decided to give Troglodyte a try. Whoa, I thought, this is the worst song ever recorded. I decided to be fair and give it a another try and it STILL sounded like the worst song ever recorded. Played it for a few friends for laughs and shelved it. Still, it was memorable, and occasionally I'd bust it out to see if it was as bad as I'd remembered and over time a funny thing happened: it not only didn't sound like the worst song ever recorded, it began to sound like the BEST song ever recorded. It's still among my top ten funk faves and Castor recorded a bunch of great sequels like Bertha Butt Boogie and the awesome King Kong . Got a feeling Mr. Hi Fi has a large selection of Jimmy Castor material. If you don't know the man's work, then

He was a part of the what I call the Mary Schuster collection.
Those are the 45s and LPs that were my older sister's.
I still have them all...including Trolodyte.
That song is very early memory for me.
"She was a Big woman. BIG woman.
Her name was Bertha. Bertha Butt.
She was one of the Butt sisters. He didn't care.

Free advice: If you make your wife's special ringtone the first 5 seconds of the Bertha Butt Boogie, rename the ringtone first. Pretty much ANY other name is good.
