I had a fantastic professor of American History who did an entire class lecture on Rosie the Riviter -- the spirit of the American women 'back home.' He made us realize how the morale and efforts of the American women helped win WWII. I was always proud of my father (RIP), a radio operator in a B-17 and a B-25 during the big war, but Professor Meriwether made me realize that my mother (and many of our mothers) were doing everything they could here at home, too. God bless, Rosie! |
