The woman whose photo as a wartime factory worker in Michigan inspired the famous "Rosie" the Riviter has passed away. :(

I had a fantastic professor of American History who did an entire class lecture on Rosie the Riviter -- the spirit of the American women 'back home.' He made us realize how the morale and efforts of the American women helped win WWII. I was always proud of my father (RIP), a radio operator in a B-17 and a B-25 during the big war, but Professor Meriwether made me realize that my mother (and many of our mothers) were doing everything they could here at home, too. God bless, Rosie!

What a gal! :0) My Grandmother was also, a Rosie the Riveter, while my Grandpa was fighting in Europe.

What a great generation of women! RIP, Rosie.

Gee, and I have my hair tied up like her today. Safe passage, Rosie. :(
