A fun-filled bus tour of the area's best tiki venues
- Hala Kahiki the jewel of Chicago-area tiki, is also among the best preserved classic-era tiki bars in the world. Witco enthusiasts will marvel at one of the most concentrated assemblies of Witco decor anywhere, as they peruse an epic-length drink list. Opened in the late 1960s by Rose and Stanley Sacharski, Hala Kahiki is still operated by their descendants. website
- Malahini Terrace is, like the Pacific Islands themselves, a bit isolated and hard to get to for many people. Fear not! The CATT caravan will bring you there so that you may enjoy one of the Chicago-area's most underappreciated tiki-themed restaurants. Malahini is Hawaiian for "newcomer", and in true island spirit, first-time visitors will be made to feel right at home among area natives! website
- Chef Shangri-la or "the Chef" as the locals call it was opened in July of 1976 by Paul & Susan Fong, both who had already spent years in the restaurant business in and around Chicago. For just over 35 years they have been serving up some of the finest Chinese recipes and have a wide variety of tropical drinks including their famous Dr. Fong. Just this past year their youngest daughter Betty and her husband Duane took over the day to day operations, and are planning on keeping those Tiki torches burning for at least another 35 years. website
- Tiki Terrace is where Chicago's Hawaiian community gathers. A labor of love brought to you by the brothers Zuziak, Tiki Terrace is the best place in the Midwest to see authentic islands entertainment while enjoying Hawaiian comfort food, such as loco moco. The incredible pan-Oceanic decor was mostly hand-fabricated by the Zuziaks, who are also performing fire-knife dancers. website
- Tong's Tiki Hut is the best reason to visit Villa Park, Illinois. Tikiphile visitors coming to Chicago for CATT will feel right at home at Tong's, enjoying Chinese-American cuisine among the bamboo, fishing nets, tikis, and a tropical mural.
Friday
We'll be kicking-off the CATT at 7pm at our host hotel - the aloft O'Hare with plenty of fun, tiki & entertainment.
Presents the intoxicating sounds of Chicago's fabulous Cocktail Preachers!
Java's Bachelor Pad Radio Show will be spinning swinging tunes for your listening enjoyment and recording the show for broadcast, too!
Saturday
10am all-aboard the CATT busses! We'll be touring the best of the Chicago Area's Tiki Venues all day, with plenty of fun, libations & good time to be had by all. We'll return to the aloft O'Hare after Midnight.Sunday
After a good night's sleep from the day before's FUN, Sunday's festivities will kick-off at noontime at Chef Shangri-la with the fabulous sounds of Chicago's own Alewife!
Also Sunday, in the tradition of giving that The Fraternal Order of Moai has established with each of our events, we'll be having a very special raffle, with all proceeds going to Catnap from the Heart, a local kitty shelter. PURRRRRRRRRRRRR!
- Entry to Friday, Saturday & Sunday's tiki-riffic activities

- Pupus, Dinner, Dessert, Tip & Show at Tiki Terrace Saturday night (DO NOT call Tiki Terrace to make reservations - we will be handling the reservation only as one large group reservation)

The host hotel is the aloft at Chicago O'Hare. There is a special CATT rate you can book HERE ($89) through September 9th.
Parking & Local Area Information:
Parking at the aloft hotel is $18 per day with in/out privileges.
For those flying in, the aloft hotel has a free shuttle pick-up service to/from O'Hare.
PLUS: free shuttle to any place within 2 miles of hotel (restaurants, etc.)
To get you to/from downtown Chicago, the CTA Blue Line is close walking distance from the hotel
